Description

Gigi backstory: Gigi was brought to the Southwest Washington Humane Society in January 2022 by someone who supposedly found her as a stray. The shelter made her pearly-whites shine again then posted her for adoption which is how I found her. I've taken her to be professionally groomed and to visit my veterinarian who has updated all of her vaccinations Gigi stats: female, age perhaps 7-8-ish?, approx 43 lbs in weight, breed appears to be (mostly?) Aussie Shepherd with soft fur in a cow-licks pattern and long lush plume-like tail, healthy and fit for walking /hiking/jogging/fetching/herding?/etc-ing Gigi personality: sweet, mannerly, respectful, a cuddly-snuggler (she'll sit with you/on you), quiet/does not bark unnecessarily, playful, enjoys interacting with other dogs at the off-leash dog parks, enjoys visitors, enjoys cafe dining, appreciates direction/leadership/rules, enjoys following her human Gigi intellect: understands and obeys both verbal commands and hand signals (waits patiently on her mat outside the kitchen until she sees the hand-signal for her to walk to her bowl), heels without a leash, uses the doggie door, plays with the puzzle-plush toys, fetches balls and squeaky birdies, is not concerned with squirrels nor things that are not her business Why Gigi now needs a new home: the downside for me and Gigi is that she is very much a velcro-dog. She prefers to follow me from room to room rather than play with/bond with my other senior dog (which is the reason I adopted her, to be a companion for my loner-type dog who lost her doggie companion last summer). Gigi will panic if I'm gone from the house too long which becomes a stressful situation for both her and me. Perhaps a household with multiple people would be better. I know there are folk out there who would love to have a canine companion whose nature it is to be by the side of her human(s) all the time and who can get her out for walks and such; She loves parks and walks and hikes and, while at the 1000-acre dog park, she seems to notice the white doodles from a great distance so I wonder whether she may have lived on a farm before or, perhaps, that's simply the innate nature of the breed. Perhaps her next owner could be someone who would benefit from an emotional support relationship since this dog makes it all about you! She’ll need a bit of readjustment time, of course, and guidance from a patient yet confident human who can convince her that it’s ok to be alone for more than an hour or two I'm interested facilitating in the right pairing. Asking for a rehoming fee to ensure her safe placement. If you think you may wish to meet Gigi, or know of some good souls who would appreciate and be good to her, please feel free to contact me so we can work together to discover whether your lives together will work well for everyone!
