Description

SEVERNA PARK, MD — Police arrested a Severna Park man Tuesday, charging him with possessing and distributing child pornography. The accused man, William Ramsey Derry, is 25 years old. Detectives started the investigation on Oct. 30, 2019 after they got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Investigators said they pinned the upload address to the 400 block of Larkspur Lane. The Anne Arundel County Police Department secured a warrant and searched the home on Nov. 22, 2019. Derry, who lives in the residence, was home during the search. Officers took several devices for analysis. Police said they found child pornography on them. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Monday and arrested Derry without incident the next day. Derry is up against 10 charges of possessing child pornography, a misdemeanor. He also faces nine counts of distributing the illegal material, which is a felony. The charges claim the offenses happened between July 18, 2019 and Nov. 22, 2019. On Monday, a judge released Derry on recognizance. The suspect will next appear in court on Dec. 30 for a preliminary hearing. His case does not yet list a trial date. Have a story idea?
