2 Displaced, Firefighter Burned In Anne Arundel Blaze: Report

CAPE ST. CLAIRE, MD — A Cape St. Claire blaze displaced two residents and burned a firefighter Saturday night, a report said. The first responder's injury was minor and medics took them to the Adult Burn Center at John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department added. Multiple neighbors spotted the fire and called 911. Crews turned out to the 11oo block of Green Holly Drive around 10:37 p.m. First-arriving firefighters found the two-story, single-family home engulfed in flames. They said the second-floor collapsed and the fire threatened the two adjacent houses. The heat damaged the siding of both neighbors, but crews kept the flames from overcoming their homes, officials noted. Investigators believe the blaze was accidental. They think an unattended wood stove on the back porch may have started the fire, though they are still investigating. It isn't clear whether the home had functioning smoke detectors. Officials did not specify an estimated dollar loss caused by the flames. The report said a team of 55 firefighters controlled the blaze in 30 minutes.
