A Spanish Wine Tasting event with a light dinner HAPPY APRIL and HAPPY SPRING! Join us at Whistle Pig for a tasting event like no other in town. The evening will begin at 6 PM where we will first tantalize your palate with dinner from Taste of Brasil paired with Brazilian wines selected by Chef Alex (Da Silva) himself. Then we will begin a journey of exploration and taste the extraordinary wines of Spain. We will be guided by Level 3 Sommelier Glen who has chosen 4 wonderful wines for us to taste from regions all over Spain. Additionally, we have selected 2 special wines for your palate to enjoy and will have other surprises. We worked with Sommelier Glen, who also owns Lots-a-Liquor a wonderful store in the Bonneville area of Colorado Springs, to select an area of focus for our second Wine School. We selected Spain due to its unique geography and its recent radical approach to growing fantastic grapes to produce palate-pleasing wines. Being a peninsula, every region of Spain has a different climate. While central Spain may sizzle under the summer sun and get frigid in the winter, Galicia, in the northwest, is influenced by cool ocean breezes. The South has brutal, arid lands that only the hardiest of grapes can endure. With the Mediterranean to the west providing easy, warm temperatures and cool breezes, the Pyrenees on the border with France block the worst of winter rain clouds from making their way to the north-central area. Spain is truly a land of many grapes and tastes that are sure to make Wine School another night to remember.
