See Chicago like never before and learn a variety of photography techniques with four award winning Chicago area photographers. Chicago Streets and Beyond Photography Group is proud to sponsor a 2-day action packed photography conference with four outstanding, award winning and published Chicago-area based photographers. Mike Baker, Jean Blowers, Rich Kolar, and John O'Neill each bring their own techniques, styles, and photography specialities to this unique conference.During this full 2 day conference you will have the opportunity to attend a number of different sessions with each of the four photographers.#eyesonchicago Session 1 - Saturday, May 149:00 a.m. We will start the conference on Saturday morning with a walk through one of Chicago's most vibrant neighborhoods, Pilsen. Rich will lead the group with assistance from Mike, Jean, and John. You will have the opportunity to photograph many early 20th century buildings and churches, vibrant street murals, and people. We will meet at the Harold Washington Library and take the Pink Line to Pilsen. A 3-day CTA pass is included in the price of the conference.Session 21:00 p.m. After lunch on your own, we will meet at the Harold Washington Library for a meet and greet. You will have the opportunity to view short presentations covering goals for the weekend. After this indoor session, it is all hands-on, photographing Chicago in all its glory.Session 32:00-4:30 p.m. We will break into smaller groups where you will get a chance to work with one of the photographers of your choice on a wide variety of topics. The Art of Observation. Mike will lead the group through various downtown spots and will concentrate on architecture including abstract and black and white photography. During this walk, Mike will guide you on how to see and capture architecture differently to add visual impact.The Art of Urban Naturescapes. Jean will lead this walk where you will learn how to create dynamic and creative images that incorporate a fusion of both nature and urban scenes. You will learn how to focus on expressive compositions, creating an image that brings a greater depth and draws in the viewer. Techniques such as bracketing, double exposure, intentional camera movement, and long expsoure will be covered.Candid Street Photography. In this walk with Rich, you will learn numerous techniques of street photography that can best help you to capture an image that tells a story through your photo to your audience. You will learn how to make quick adjustments with your camera depending on the speed of the action, available outdooor light, and looking quickly to recognize how to frame a particular moment.Dynamic Cityscapes. John will lead a group that looks at various cityscapes and key locations throughout the downtown area and along the Chicago River. John will concentrate on how to best capture the overall scene that puts your audience in the moment with the photograph.Session 46:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Golden Hour, Blue Hour and Night Photography. After dinner on your own, you will have the opportunity to try your hand at photographing Chicago's beautiful skyline during three different lighting challenges. Dividing into several groups, we will photograph the skyline at various locations. Mike, Jean, John, and Rich are experienced night photographers and will share a variety of blue hour and night photography techniques. Our goal is that you will be successful in creating a skyline image that is print worthy.Session 5 - Sunday, May 154:45 a.m. - 6:30 a.m. Sunrise Shoot on the Museum Campus. Clouds permitting, we will work with each of you to capture the sunrise. If the sun is covered by cloudy conditions, we will still have the opportunity to capture the morning skyline. The view of the city from this vantage point is well worth getting up for and watching the city wake up for another day. For those that prefer to sleep in and join us for the next session, that will be fine too!Session 69:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Group A 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Group B The Rookery including the beautiful Oriel Staircase. Join us for special access to the Rookery! Daniel Burnham and John Root were commissioned to design this beautiful historic building after the Great Chicago Fire. Usually the Oriel Staircase and other parts of the Rookery can only be accessed by special tour. We are excited to help you photograph this beautiful Chicago Landmark. Burnham Library, Oriel Staircase, two-story Art Deco lobby, Frank Lloyd Wright's gilded white marble columns and bronze chandeliers with prismatic glass, are all included during this session.Tripods with rubber stops only, will be allowed.We will divide into 2 groups so that everyone has enough room to move their tripods around. When one group is inside shooting and learning from 2 instructors the other group will be outside in the Financial District shooting and learning from the other 2 insturctors.Session 71:00 -3:30 p.m. After lunch on your own, we will repeat the Saturday, Session 3 sessions: The Art of Observation, The Art of Urban Naturescape, Candid Street Photography, Dynamic Cityscapes. Chance to work with a different photographer than you did during Saturday's Session 3. We will coordinate your sessions before the conference begins so that you will know exactly where you will be going and who you will be with during each session of the conference.We will end the conference at a place still to be determined by having an early Pizza Dinner where you will have a chance to socialize with the presenters and other attendees.
