¡A Viva Voz! Celebration of Latina/o Arts & Culture presents comic book author Héctor Rodríguez, in conversation with Frederick Luis Aldama The Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection invites you to attend its annual celebration of Latina/o arts and culture, ¡A Viva Voz! Join us in person for an evening with Héctor Rodríguez, creator of the comic book series El Peso Hero and co-founder of Texas Latino Comic Con. El Peso Hero is the first contemporary Mexican superhero who uses his powers to defend the disenfranchised and to vex Mexican cartels, corrupt officials, and human traffickers. In conversation with Professor Frederick Luis Aldama, Rodríguez will talk about his life growing up in Texas, his career as a primary school teacher, and his motivations for creating his superhero. Audience members will be treated to an inside look at the comic’s first publication ten years ago and its bright future. Light refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public.
