Description

Reflections on the Challenges & Opportunities of Bipartisanship Join us for an evening with Montana Governor Greg Gianforte as he reflects on the challenges and opportunities for politicians and citizens working together across the aisle, in a conversation moderated by Mansfield Advisory Board Chair and ALPS CEO David Bell. Elected in November 2020, Greg Gianforte serves as the 25th governor of the State of Montana. Between 2017 and 2021, he served as Montana’s at-large congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he focused on health care, natural resources, public lands, government reform, consumer protection and telecommunications issues. Prior to entering public service, Governor Gianforte spent 34 years in the private sector, starting five different startup companies. In 1997, Governor Gianforte and his wife Susan founded RightNow Technologies from their Bozeman home. They grew RightNow into Bozeman’s largest commercial employer, creating over 500 high-paying Montana jobs. In 2004, they established the Gianforte Family Foundation, which has provided $97 million in philanthropic gifts, including to organizations in Montana that work to improve education opportunities, promote entrepreneurship, create jobs and support families and the vulnerable. Governor Gianforte earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. Married since 1986, Greg and Susan are the proud parents of four children and grandparents to two grandkids. Mansfield Advisory Board Chair David Bell is the President and CEO of ALPS Property and Casualty Insurance Company, the nation’s largest direct insurer of lawyers malpractice. Mr. Bell co-founded and serves on the board of Grateful Nation Montana, a first-of-its-kind in the nation organization that provides tutoring, mentoring and a college education for the children of Montana soldiers killed while on active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. He currently serves on the board of the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the American Property Casualty Insurers Association and the Bank of Montana. He and his wife Brittany live in Missoula, Montana, and have two children.
