Happy Saturday, New Orleans! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening locally today. First, today's weather: Cloudy with a t-storm or two. High: 73 Low: 60. Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today: Mayor Cantrell announced Thursday a new plan to help combat the illegal tire dumping that has been plaguing NOLA East residents for years. The city will partner with a state program run by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Equality. The city will receive $42,000, among other things, to help address the tire situation. (FOX 8 Local First) The second tornado to hit Louisiana in the past two weeks touched down in Roseland on Wednesday evening. It was on the ground for approximately 6.1 miles with the most concentrated damage around Highway 10 where the EF1-rated storm damaged multiple homes and uprooted trees. (WGNO New Orleans)Police responded to a call on Almonaster Avenue on Thursday morning where they found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was male and was pronounced dead at the scene. NOPD is still investigating the incident, including suspects and potential motive.
