MORRIS TOWNSHIP — A vehicle got stolen while it was warming up in the driveway Thursday morning in Morris Township, police said. Meanwhile, a vehicle burglary took place around the same time on the same street, according to authorities. The incidents took place at about 7 a.m. Thursday on Spring Brook Road, officials said. The Morris Township Police Department reminded people to lock their vehicles and report anything suspicious. Several local police agencies have warned the public about "warm-up thefts." That's when someone steals a running car left unattended, especially when a driver is warming up their vehicle. Although it's still a bit chilly in the mornings, police warn that leaving a running car unattended leaves drivers vulnerable to thefts. Purses, money, credit cards and cell phones in plain view only help attract thieves.Always close the windows and lock your car, even if it is in your driveway, garage or in front of your home or a business. Never leave key fobs in the vehicle.Always be alert, and report suspicious activity immediately by dialing 911.If your vehicle has an alarm or other anti-theft device, use it.Thanks for reading.
