Press release from the City of Ames: March 28, 2022 The Main Street bridge over Grand Avenue (U.S. Highway 69) will be closed to traffic and pedestrians beginning Monday, April 4, for construction work. The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT), who owns the bridge, has hired Jasper Construction Services to overlay the bridge deck. Work is expected to last approximately two months. The bridge and sidewalk will be closed during construction. Detour signage will be posted directing traffic and pedestrians around the area. Some overnight closures of Grand Avenue may also be necessary during portions of the project. Notice will be given of these closures if necessary. All are encouraged to take note of this construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. As always, caution should be exercised when traveling near the construction area.
