Fast Cat Races At Plainfield North Coming Up, Expect Traffic Delays

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield North High School is organizing Fast Cat races Saturday, and residents and drivers should expect delays and temporary road closures, police said. The Fast Cat Kids Run is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Plainfield North's property, so it will not impact traffic or drivers. The two that will, though, are the 5K and 10K races, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. The race will begin at the high school, 12005 S. 248th Ave. From there, the route goes north on 248th Avenue to Millennium Parkway, then east on Millennium to Champion Drive, then east on Champion to the bike path. Runners will continue on the bike path until exiting on 119th Street, going west until 248th Avenue and continuing south back to Plainfield North. As a result, the following roads will close at 8 a.m. Saturday: 248th Avenue from Winterberry Lane to Champion Drive119th Street from Millennium Parkway to Heritage Meadows DriveVan Dyke Road from Whispering Trails Drive to 119th StreetMillennium Parkway from 248th Avenue to Champion DriveChampion Drive from Millennium Parkway to Champion Court Police said all roadways are expected to reopen at about 10:30 a.m., though some could reopen earlier. Parking will also be restricted on several streets part of the course, including Millennium Parkway and Champion Drive. Participants should park at Plainfield North. Registration for the races is open until 7:45 a.m. Saturday.
