JOLIET, IL — A 20-year-old Joliet man who was arrested Tuesday afternoon after Joliet police say he drove through multiple red lights trying to flee officers on West Jefferson Street is no longer in custody after posting 10 percent of his $30,000 bail.
On Tuesday afternoon, Sebastian Salazar was booked into the Will County Jail on felony charges of aggravated fleeing or attempting to flee a peace officer. According to the complaint, Salazar was driving his black Mazda 3 on Jefferson Street when an officer turned on his squad car's flashing lights and sirens, trying to pull him over, and he refused to do so.
Instead of stopping, Salazar "willfully failed or refused to obey such direction" and by doing so, Salazar disobeyed two or more traffic lights, including a stop light at Jefferson and Reed Streets and a stop light at Jefferson Street and Midland Avenue, according to prosecutors.
Further details about Salazar's arrest were not immediately available from Joliet police.
Salazar lives in the 1600 block of East Cass Street. He was released from the county jail at 4:46 p.m. Thursday.
