DOYLESTOWN, PA — Claire Scott, a longtime Bucks County resident, celebrated her 102nd birthday recently at The Solana Doylestown, where she lives.
Scott enjoys people watching and sunbathing with her friends. She worked in fashion most of her life and was involved in several community organizations.
The Solana provided Patch with some highlights of Scott's long life.
Lauren Dartt/Cynthia Porter Scott was born Claire Burkhardt on March 6, 1920 and raised in Bethlehem, Pa.
She lived in Doylestown with her husband Thomas, who died in 2000, for almost 60 years. She has two sons, Tom and David and two grandsons, Graham and Tobin.
Scott was very active in the community. She was a Gray Lady (American Red Cross volunteer) for Doylestown Hospital.
She was a longtime member of Doylestown Country Club and The Five Stars card club. Scott also volunteered for VIA Designer House and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Solebury, Pa.
She worked at Musselman's in Doylestown, Christy Allen of Lahaska, and the Paper Unicorn, also in Doylestown.
Along with playing tennis, Scott loves going to the casino and traveling. Her favorite places to visit are the Jersey shore; Connecticut; Naples, Fla.; Las Vegas and the British Virgin Islands.
