Press release from the Sacramento County Government: March 30, 2022 Sacramento County Behavioral Health (BHS) is developing a new and innovative 24/7 Behavioral Health Crisis Call Center and Response Team that will change the lives of individuals experiencing a crisis due mental illness or substance abuse. The Wellness Crisis Call Center and Response Team (WCCCRT) will receive calls from community members experiencing a mental health crisis. Clinicians will dispatch Mental Health Response Teams which include Clinicians and Peers assigned to locations throughout the County. Sacramento County BHS is committed to hiring a workforce that reflects the diversity of our community. As such, BHS is seeking a wide-ranging pool of applicants from diverse backgrounds and different levels of clinical, professional and/or lived behavioral health experience, with high energy, compassion and enthusiasm for public service. "The best way to serve our community is to provide community based culturally relevant services," said Ryan Quist, Sacramento County Behavioral Health Director. "We are looking for trusted community members to help us serve the neighborhoods they know and love." The 24/7 Behavioral Health Crisis Call Center and Response Team will be a combination of Program Coordinators, Senior Mental Health Counselors, Mental Health Counselors, Peers and an administrative team overseen by a Health Program Manager. This includes identifying and leveraging individual strengths and natural supports; coordinating with existing public mental health and substance use treatment providers as appropriate; linking to ongoing services; voluntary transport to urgent/emergency resources and accessing Mobile Crisis Support Teams or other emergency responders when necessary.
