Here are the top three stories today in Cleveland: A woman convicted of beating an elderly Navy veteran to death inside an East Cleveland Autozone last year was sentenced to life in prison. 40-year-old Tiffany Gardner was found guilty of the death of 70-year-old Leonard Craddock on Apr. 14, 2021. Gardner and Craddock reportedly got into an argument inside the auto shop; the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. (Cleveland 19 News)A local professor is collecting bulletproof vests and other donations to deliver to Ukraine. Roman Sheremeta, a professor at Case Western Reserve University, was born in Ukraine and planned to return to his home country earlier this month to open a university in Kyiv. Sheremeta started organizing efforts in Broadview Heights, collecting donations of combat gear, medical supplies, PPE, and notes of love. Volunteers are also rolling pierogis and pastries for the official fundraiser, taking place on Saturday, Apr. 2 at Slavic Full Gospel Church. (Cleveland 19 News)Looking for weekend plans?
