Scottsdale Arts To Donate Some Of April 26 Ticket Sales To Aid Ukraine

SCOTTSDALE, AZ —Scottsdale Arts announced this week that a portion of every ticket sold to Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov's concert later this month will be donated to a charity helping to feed Ukrainians who have been displaced during the war. The 31-year-old Grammy-winner's concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. on April 26, at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Virginia G. Piper Theater, 7380 E. 2nd St. According to concert promoters, $6 from every ticket sold for Trifonov's show will go to World Central Kitchen's humanitarian relief work. Founded by celebrity chef Jose Andres, World Central Kitchen is a nonprofit that serves chef-prepared meals to communities impacted by natural disasters and prolonged humanitarian crises, including during the war in Ukraine. The organization already has served over 4 million meals to refugees since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. "While our hearts go out to the millions of people impacted by this war, we believe that the arts can help unite us and heal us," said Dr. Gerd Wuestemann, president and CEO of Scottsdale Arts. "Hosting this Russian-born, world-class artist and collaborating with him to raise funds for Ukrainian refugee relief is a wonderful way in which we can do our part to help." In addition to helping the cause, concertgoers will get to see an artist whose reputation has been growing within the classical music world. In 2018, Trifonov's album "Transcendental," a collection of works by Liszt, won the Grammy for Best Instrumental Solo Album. He also was named Musical America's 2019 Artist of the Year. "(Trifonov) is without question the most astounding young pianist of our age," Richard Morrison wrote in the Times of London in 2015.
