WORCESTER, MA — If you've ever complained about litter in Worcester, now is your chance to do something about it. Worcester on Friday announced a round of grants that will be available this spring for various beautification projects — be it an Earth Day litter pickup or building a community garden. Each Worcester City Council district will get up to $5,000 in funding for projects. Neighborhood groups, individuals or businesses can use the money to purchase items like tools, refreshments and landscaping materials. "Applications will be scored based on several aspects: having enough volunteers and good communication within the neighborhood to make the event successful; demonstration that the neighborhood is committed and motivated; and, most importantly, that the project enhances and improves the quality of life for residents who live in, work in, or visit the community," a city news release said. The deadline to apply is April 12. Submit your application here.
