Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of Crack, Stolen Credit Cards: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Riverhead traffic stop Friday led to the discovery of crack cocaine and stolen credit and debit cards, police said. According to Riverhead Town Police, at 9:38 a.m., the Community Orientated Policing Enforcement, or COPE, division stopped a vehicle on Peconic Avenue. The driver, Adam Hunstein, 33, of Bay Shore, was found with crack cocaine and also had a revoked license, police said. During the investigation, officers discovered that Hunstein and his passenger, Colleen Brown, 32, of Flanders, had stolen credit and debit cards, police said. Hunstein was arrested and charged with five counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony; one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor; one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; and one count of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, police said. Brown was arrested and charged with five counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony; and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor, police said. Both were placed under arrest, transported to the Riverhead Police Department for processing and held for arraignment, police said.
