BEWARE of the people with the Great Dane puppies in Richmond, Indiana. Today I drove almost 4 hours one way from Michigan to adopt two great dane puppies. I was told to meet the lady at the Tractor Supply in Richmond. She was driving a maroon colored Toyota sienna van. When I arrived to pick up the puppies, she loaded them into the back of my car and one of the puppies immediately started pooping. It was pretty runny diarrhea. She's then informed me that the puppies carried coccidia and that it was aggravated when they were stressed from travel. She pulled out a health record for the puppy and showed me that she had written down treating them for it this morning. The health record also stated that the puppies tested positive for parvo recently. She told me that the puppies were no longer contagious because she had vaccinated them three times and insisted that my neighbors puppy whom I watch was in no danger being around her puppies. I called my vet as I dealt with parvo years ago and know it is highly contagious, my vet said that her puppies could still be contagious and should not be around any other puppies or unvaccinated dogs. I am very upset that I made an almost 8 hour drive for nothing because she was not honest enough to tell me that the puppies had parvo up front. Her post states that they are vet checked and vaccinated, but the parvo should be listed as well. Anyone interested in purchasing these puppies should be aware that the puppies still May carry parvo and could pose a threat to any dogs that are unvaccinated or young puppies that they may come in the contact with.
