Your Family Tree: Mapped, Lettered and Painted

In this eight week course students will create a family tree or illustrated chart using their genealogical history. Each student will design their tree using their familial information to create a finished painting. Colors and choices of mediums will be explored to determine which will be best suited to further illustrate and paint in the details and added ornamentation. Mediums may include a singular or mix of the following: pen and ink, pencil, watercolors, gouache, acrylic and luminous gold or silver for accent. Lettering and calligraphy styles will be developed with attention to balance between letter and design. Nicole will guide each student through the entire process; helping to foster the development of each piece from start to finish to create a beautiful heirloom tree unique to its maker. Student handouts and exemplar packets are included. *Please note: all genealogical information should be researched by the student before class starts or before the beginning of class two.
