Description

• With all the progress Homo sapiens have made in 200,000 years, we are still unable to stop killing one another. Perhaps it is vestiges in our genes from previous relatives. Perhaps it is a survival strategy to prevent us from becoming too overcrowded. Who knows? • The problem is complex. It involves fearful people who place their faith in a machine designed solely for the death of another human. In this particular case, perhaps it involves a frightened child, perhaps bullied, who has learned from "fearful people who place their faith in a machine" that a firearm is the solution to their fear. • We know that if you segregate all bullied children for their protection and place them into a school of their own, new bullies will emerge. We also know that if you segregate all bullies to protect the other students, within the school of all bullies, new victims will emerge, within the school with bullies removed, new bullies will emerge. • There are solutions. The known ones are extreme. In totalitarian, dictator societies, there is virtually no violence amongst the populace. In religious communities, such as convents, monasteries, amongst the Amish, there is little or no violence, and virtually never violence occurring in death. • After Parkland, it looked like perhaps REAL dialogue might occur. We had a president who supported immediate change. In fact, he held a press conference in which he stated: "You can't be afraid of the NRA. You have to stand up to them." The next day, two thugs from the NRA visited said president, after which he immediately caved and flip-flopped. • So, we wring our hands and say nothing can be done. They say this planet is good for ≈ another 3.5 billion years. Perhaps we will exterminate one another, and another species will emerge that will learn ancient mysteries taught us millenniums ago but discarded.
