APPRENTICE FOREMAN WANTED FOR ESTABLISHED STONEWORK COMPANY
Jobs
Tommy Armour Ln., Redmond OR
Description
Miranda Stonework LLC (www.mirandastonework.com) is a small but well-established company that operates primarily in Deschutes County. We are a family-run business that specializes in stone and paver work, including patios, stairs, walls, paths, and more. Miranda Stonework takes great pride in delivering the highest-quality work in a timely manner, communicating clearly, and satisfying clients. To that end, we are seeking an apprentice to train in all aspects of stonework and hardscaping with an eye to becoming an on-site foreman to oversee all projects. During the 6-month training period the apprentice will work with owner Nicolas Miranda and be paid an hourly wage while learning the processes and practices of stonework and hardscaping construction, as well as the standards and culture of the company. If the apprentice proves satisfactory after the 6-month training period, he/she will be promoted to full-time foreman earning a base salary or hourly wage, plus a percentage of the profit for each project. This percentage will increase as the company grows with the potential for a partnership down the road. This is a perfect job for a motivated individual who values working outside, being physical, and being creative in a low-key, non-corporate environment. Due to the seasonal nature of stonework (workload tends to taper off in the cold months) this job will begin when winter weather permits. Must-have: • Interest in long-term employment and growth with the company • Good communication and leadership skills • Valid, current driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation • Ability to work safely and meet the company’s quality standards • Good organizational skills • Eye for detail • Ability to lift and move up to 90 lbs • Resume and character/work references (at least 2) Nice-to-have: • Experience towing and operating a dump-trailer • Experience operating Bobcat loader or other equipment • Experience with stonework or hardscaping • Experience as foreman supervising employees Responsibilities during apprenticeship include: • Take 8-hour ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute) course paid for by the company • Learn and execute basic skills, quality standards, and processes while on the job • (After 3 months) Gain experience overseeing employees Responsibilities if promoted to foreman include: • Oversee projects and regularly report progress to Nicolas Miranda • Ensure that the work meets company quality and safety standards • Coordinate daily tasks, making changes when necessary due to weather supply, delivery, and personnel • Achieve all schedule requirements for projects • Delegate responsibilities to employees and ensure efficiency and productivity • Resolve on-site conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably
