What is "What's Behind Your Selfie?"™A conference centered around a panel of women transparently sharing their stories in hopes of showing other women that they are not alone. Though each story is as unique as our thumbprint, God is still in control over our lives, especially during the difficult moments. Story Behind "What's Behind Your Selfie"?When we scroll on social media and see the selfies and usies of some of our favorite and least favorite couples, we often admire their perfectly portrayed pictures. We see the smiles and the glare in their eyes, and depending on the caption, it's hard not to wonder what is happening behind the scenes. Deep in their hearts, are they really smiling? Is the perfection in this picture genuinely portraying what's in their reality? I thought about this in my own life. I went through many seasons of dark, painful, and lonely, lonely days, and I found that during those times, I took some of the best selfies and the most pictures of myself, smiling outwardly. It's something about a woman who always wants to feel good about her life and the circumstances surrounding it. Even if she is in the fight of her life, a cute picture with a perfect caption attached seems to mask, superficially, the pain that she experienced. This is what is true for many women. We go through our lives hiding behind pictures and fake facets. We do away with dealing with life and the things that are ever before us. Instead, we sweep these things under a rug in our hearts to appear to have things together. This evening, we will remove the mask to start the process of true healing. This conference provides a safe space for women to meet new women and, most importantly, Encouragement. I pray that this event will be life-changing for everyone in attendance. Can I come alone? Sure, women show up all the time alone and leave with new friends. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 ESV
