Description
Join us to learn more about the BioFutures Internship Program, career development programming, and networking. In 2021, BioscienceLA launched the BioFutures Internship Program to connect students from historically underrepresented backgrounds with subsidized internships and career-development programming. BioFutures focuses on exposing students to local life science companies, while growing a more diverse recruitment pipeline from which companies can source talent. Qualifying companies can have a full-time summer intern for just a $1000 internship fee (plus required payroll taxes), with BioscienceLA covering up to $6,200 thanks to a grant from LA County’s Second District. Every internship funded is not just an investment in the student themselves, but simultaneously an investment in the Los Angeles school the student attends and the local company that is hosting the student. To date, 185 students have applied from 31 schools, with 30 placements from 19 schools, with more students applying & companies extending internship offers every day. Applicants come from across the five LA County districts, as well as surrounding Southern California areas. At the end of the first summer, 7 students extended the paid, subsidized internships into the fall and 3 were hired permanently by their companies. We'd love to add your company to our list of companies where LA students are gaining experience. Join us on Thursday, April 7th, from 5-7 pm at the BioscienceLA Collaboration Hub in Culver City as we kick off the summer intern “search" season. This will be an in-person opportunity to meet the team, learn more about how the program is growing, as well as hear experiences from companies that have previously hosted interns. We look forward to seeing you there! P.S: You can get a head start! Click here to complete the Company Intake form to get access to view the intern database with 180+ students (and growing)!
