NJ Transit Main-Bergen Line Resumes Service After Collision

MAHWAH, NJ - Service resumed Tuesday evening on NJ Transit's Main-Bergen line after a train struck a tractor trailer stuck on the tracks in New York. The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. along Route 17 and Washington Avenue in Sloatsburg, where a truck was trying to make a tight turn, became lodged on the tracks and was hit by a commuter train, NBC 4 reported. The truck's driver managed to escape from his vehicle prior to the impact, but the 18-wheeler was sliced in half, the report said. No injuries were reported to passengers on board the train, either, the report said. Additional information was not immediately available from NJ Transit early Wednesday morning. Shortly after the incident, NJ Transit suspended service on the line while an investigation was underway but started up again a few hours later "with residual delays," according to a tweet from the agency. The rail line provides service between Port Jervis, NY and Hoboken and includes stops in Mahwah, Ramsey, Ridgewood, Glen Rock and Fair Lawn.
