Description

Cooperation, resilience, patience, reverence, humility--what are the virtues that come from farming? Do they still shape Iowa today? Our history and culture as a state have been undeniably shaped by farming. What about our values? Surely certain virtues are required and developed in growing food, but what are they and how do those affect us today? Are those virtues still with us, do they affect people who live in cities? Are there ways they are incomplete? Ras Smith, State Representative and Grundy County Farmer, and Jenny Quiner, owner of Dogpatch Urban Gardens, will share their perspectives on the way growing food shapes us as people, as a state, as a culture. Good beer and big ideas. Join the conversation.
