7 New Coronavirus Cases Reported At Mahwah's Ramapo College

MAHWAH, NJ — As of Monday, a combination of nine Ramapo College students and employees are in isolation or quarantine after seven positive coronavirus tests were recorded last week. According to the college's COVID-19 dashboard: Two students tested positive on Nov. 3One student and one employee tested positive on Nov. 5Three students tested positive on Nov. 6 Contact tracing revealed that the student testing positive on Nov. 5 was in direct contact with 13 students and one employee, who were all required to self-quarantine. Additionally, contact tracing discovered that two residential students were in direct contact with the employee member who tested positive on Nov. 5. They, too, were required to self-quarantine. A total of 26 students and employees have tested positive for the coronavirus since Sept. 20, the college reports. These results came days prior to Gov. Phil Murphy's expected new coronavirus restrictions as the state reported over 5,00 new cases over the weekend, and hit the daily 3,000 case mark for the first time since April. The Mahwah Board of Education announced they'll consider closing the township's public schools prior to the November and December holidays, in anticipation of close contact and travel as coronavirus cases spike in New Jersey.
