What's Up Prince William March 31, 2022 House of Mercy has created a space where more people are welcome, and the organization has become more effective in serving Prince William County. According to an article submitted to What's Up Prince William, the Manassas-based nonprofit has completed renovations to its food pantry and donation center, enabling staff and volunteers to serve the community more efficiently. HomeAid Northern Virginia and Merritt Construction assisted with the projects. The food pantry has been expanded, so that more food can be stored and prepared to assist local families experiencing hunger. House of Mercy has also renovated its thrift store. A welcome area was built to make the donation center more pleasurable for donors. Processing donations has also become more efficient for volunteers, as well. Previously, volunteers had to walk to a separate building from the donation center to get to the thrift store, but they are now connected by an indoor walkway. This helps keep volunteers safe, because they are not subjected to inclement weather and extreme heat. Some renovations make the facility more visually appealing, such as new interior lighting and a fresh coat of paint. To complete the project, the breakroom and kitchen were also expanded, so that the facility can serve more people at a time.
