Ukrainian Easter Egg Fundraiser and Bake Sale
Two Sessions:
11am-1 pm;
2pm-4pm
A pysanka (Ukrainian: писанка) is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist (batik) method. The word pysanka comes from the verb "pysaty", “to write”, as the designs are not painted on, but written with beeswax.
Pysanky have been part of Ukrainian culture since prehistoric times, originally in the belief that their magic would assure the coming of Spring. In Christian times, the pagan decorated egg became an Easter Egg, symbolizing resurrection. During this fun event you will learn on how to draw your own Pysanka.
