Press release from the Suffolk County Government: March 29, 2022 Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. Gregson Pigott announced today that the Department of Health Services continues to offer COVID-19 vaccines in communities. "We urge every person who is eligible to receive a booster vaccine to get one as soon as possible," said Dr. Gregson Pigott. Recent studies have shown that COVID-19 vaccines have been extremely effective as reducing your risk of dying or needing a ventilator from this virus as compared with adults who were not vaccinated. Protection was highest in adults who received a third COVID-19 vaccine dose." To make the vaccine available to more residents, the Department of Health Services is providing COVID vaccines to pediatricians, medical providers. nursing homes and pharmacies in quantities that are appropriate for their practices. Providers may order vaccine through an online portal www.suffolkcountyny.gov/pharmacy. Those with questions may call 311 Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and ask to speak with someone in the Central Pharmacy Hanaa Ibrahim, Director of Suffolk County's Central Pharmacy, said, "We know that many people will trust only their medical provider to give them their immunizations, so we are urging these providers to contact us. We are here to make it easy for them."
