From the City of Baton Rouge: Posted March 17, 2020 Baton Rouge, LA – March 17, 2020 – The Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is working to bring more COVID-19 testing kits to the Community Testing Site. Mayor Broome is in constant contact with Governor Edwards and the Louisiana Department of Health to increase the supply of testing kits. The shortage of kits has led to the temporary closure of the Community Testing Site. The site will be re-opened as soon as additional kits are acquired. Mayor Broome has gathered a group of medical professionals to address the virus in East Baton Rouge. The COVID-19 group, along with Mayor Broome, is working to strengthen the existing screening protocol requirements. The COVID-19 group requests that healthcare professionals act judiciously with their clinical judgement so that tests can be administered to our most vulnerable population when the tests become available.
