MAHWAH, NJ — A Fair Lawn man was arrested and charged in connection to a Sept. 4 multi-car crash in Mahwah.
At approximately 4:46 p.m., Mahwah Police received a report of the crash in the northbound lanes of Route 17 near Route 202.
Three vehicles were involved, officers determined, including the driver of a motorcycle who suffered serious injuries.
Police determined that Ryan McMullen, of Fair Lawn, was driving while using a cell phone when he struck the motorcycle driver, who was ejected from his motorcycle.
The operator was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, where he is currently in stable condition, the Prosecutor's Office said.
McMullen is charged with assault by auto, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving and using a handheld mobile device while operating a moving motor vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in Central Judicial Processing Court on Friday, Sept. 18.
