SAN ANTONIO (March 28, 2022) – In an effort to learn more about the seasonality of animal sheltering and the specific needs of San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS), District 5 Councilwoman Teri Castillo will meet with SAACS Director Shannon Sims.
Scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday, March 29th, the Councilwoman will tour kennels, speak with staff and meet some of the hundreds of adoptable pets at the shelter. It's a visit the Councilwoman has been looking forward to. "Six years ago, I adopted Pebbles from the City of San Antonio's Animal Care Services and am excited to revisit the ACS main campus to discuss ways we can increase adoption rates and discuss how to best address community concerns regarding our stray furry friends."
SAACS Director Shannon Sims says he's also eager to discuss shelter needs and the community's animal issues, especially considering the coming litter season. "We welcome the opportunity to not only show off our adoptable pets but also discuss ways the community can help the shelter save more lives," said Sims. "Our busiest time of year is underway and so many kittens and puppies are starting to come in that local shelters and rescues are struggling to keep up. We're thankful Councilwoman Castillo is engaged in helping identify positive solutions that benefit pets and people." *Media is invited to speak with the Councilwoman and SAACS Director Sims at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 29th at the shelter's main campus located at 4710 State Highway 151.
