SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — A Watsonville man was arrested early Tuesday morning after a K-9 and officers found drugs and ID cards that did not belong to him, the Scotts Valley Police Department said. Juan Miguel Hipolito, 30, was arrested on suspicion of charges including possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, violating probation, possessing stolen property, jail records show. Police spotted Hipolito driving his Cadillac and knew he had a suspended drivers license and history of drug use, police said on Facebook. The officer stopped Hipolito and K-9 Atlas alerted to the smell of drugs. Police said they found a fake compartment used to hide drugs, which held meth and paraphernalia. Officers also found several California IDs with women's photos and a U.S. passport that didn't belong to him, police said. One of the identifying records was reported stolen by a neighboring law enforcement agency, police said. Officers said they also found items stolen taken in a Santa Cruz theft.
