Description

MAHWAH, NJ — The tree lighting ceremony will be a little different this year, as the coronavirus pandemic continues. However, it will go on. Scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m., the recreation committee is hosting a drive-thru tree lighting ceremony in the Town Hall parking lot, 475 Corporate Dr. All attendees will be required to stay in their cars, but prepackaged "goodie bags" and other "holiday treats" will be handed out on a first come, first served basis. This year, there's also an opportunity to get more involved with the celebration by helping to decorate the tree. For the first time, the recreation committee is giving residents the chance to design an ornament to be displayed on the township's holiday tree. A container is placed in front of town hall, and the committee asks that all ornaments be dropped off no later than Dec. 5 to be part of the tree lighting ceremony. However, ornaments can be dropped off at a later date to be placed on the tree throughout the holiday season.
