SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — A blown transformer has created a power outage in Scotts Valley Sunday night, and it has affected police department telephones and radio dispatching system, police said. PG&E said the outage, reported about 7:55 p.m. Sunday, in affecting about 1,700 customers. The cause of the outage wasn't known as of 8:15 p.m., and a preliminary estimate has the power being back on by 12:30 a.m. Monday. Scotts Valley police officers are working with neighboring agencies to ensure police protection isn't disrupted. Scotts Valley has positioned officers in various areas of the city, and Netcom will be dispatching our officers temporarily. 911 calls will go directly to Netcom for the time being, police said. Also, for a short time, The Scotts Valley Police Department's business line ((831) 440-5670) will be down.
