RI Governor To Receive Second COVID-19 Booster Shot

PROVIDENCE, RI — Gov. Dan McKee will get his second coronavirus booster shot at the State House on Friday, following a pandemic update from the Rhode Island Department of Health. The shot will be administered by Dr. Philip Chan, one of the state's pandemic response leaders. The announcement comes after the FDA authorized second booster shots for American aged 50 and older earlier this week. Eligible recipients can get either a Pfizer or Moderna shot if it has been at least four months since their first booster. Follow-up Pfizer boosters are were also authorized for any aged 12 and up who is immunocompromised. Before giving McKee his booster, Dr. Chan will speak briefly about the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention's guidance for second boosters, starting at noon.
