SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A 28-year-old San Jose man was found dead Sunday night in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said. The sheriff's office is investigating the case as a homicide. Deputies have not released the victim's name as they try to get in contact with his family. Deputies responded to a call of a man with a gun near the 17000 block of Laurel Road and Highway 17 Sunday, around 8 p.m., the sheriff's office said Monday afternoon in a news release. Deputies found an unresponsive man who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies said they are looking for two people — possibly women in their 40s — who were there at the time of the crime. Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Daniel Robbins at 831-454-7635.
