SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — Hours after Bigfoot was reported missing — no kidding — police found him safe and sound. On Wednesday afternoon, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office announced the Bigfoot statue that had graced the entrance to Felton's beloved Bigfoot Discovery Museum was stolen. The four-foot statue weighed around 150 to 200 pounds and was thought to have been stolen between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, along with a wooden bear statue. The community was swift to offer support for the owners of the museum, which opened in 2006, and condemn the actions of the sasquatch thief. "2020 have you no heart," wondered one woman on the sheriff's office Facebook page. "We need to post this all over the globe until Bigfoot is found," wrote another. And found he was. "Officers responded to a suspicious figure in the roadway," police said on Facebook. "He was a little banged up but will be returned to his rightful place at the Bigfoot Discovery Museum." Santa Cruz County eagerly welcomed him home. "Poor guy," wrote one woman. "Looks like he has sustained a head injury and a broken heart, both hopefully can be mended." "Someone was doom[ed] to be cursed and made the right choice," wrote another. One person even questioned whether the statue was ever stolen. "Is no one even mildly suspicious that he came to life and got there himself," she asked. "Wake up people."
