Press release from the City of Las Vegas: March 24, 2022 Northwest Las Vegas has just gotten a new restaurant and it's already creating a lot of buzz! Slater's 50/50 is officially open for business. Located near Lake Mead Boulevard and Buffalo Drive, this is owner Andy Kao's second location in the valley. He and his wife opened the restaurant in Ward 1 after hearing request after request from customers at the Silverado Ranch location. Known for their 50/50 patty, half bacon and half Angus beef, this restaurant is serving up food and drinks seven days a week. "We have gourmet burgers with brioche buns, high quality ingredients and of course the 50 draft beers, which is one of the bigger beer lists in town," Andy Kao said. The owners also support local breweries by featuring several local craft beers inside of their restaurants. Plus, there is a wide variety of milkshakes, boozy milkshakes and other items to choose from, including the vampire dip…a cheese dip served inside of a freshly-made sourdough bread bowl and served with pita chips and veggie sticks. They also have a secret menu item that's not too secret anymore. Their "Whale Burger" was featured on the Netflix series "Fresh, Fried & Crispy" last year and includes a fried lobster tail, one pound of wagyu beef, three slices of gold dusted "billionaire's" bacon strips, truffle cheese, arugula, bacon jam and roasted garlic aioli, sandwiched between a gold-dusted brioche bun. It's served with a half bottle of champagne and costs $100. "My wife and I got our start in the casino hospitality business and there are high rollers and there are whales" Kao said. "Whales want the most extravagant of everything, but they like to be secretive about it. That's why we put the whale burger on our secret menu. You have to find a whale inside the restaurant for access to the secret menu item." Slater's 50/50 is located at 7511 W. Lake Mead Blvd. and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. This press release was produced by the City of Las Vegas. The views expressed here are the author's own.
