The Fencing Pony is an 11-acre horse facility with 10 paddocks, 4 stalls, 1 arena, and 1 round pen. We are located in Felton, CA near Scotts Valley. What distinguishes us from other boarding facilities is the beautiful scenery, quiet atmosphere, and personal service. We are proud of our drama-free community, and are guided by principles of good horsemanship. We are close to Henry Cowell and Quail Hollow parks, with lots of horse friendly trails.Our barn manager is an integral element in taking care of the horses, the property, and represents our business.Expectations:Positive, friendly, respectful, and caring disposition.Ability to communicate clearly, directly, and amicably with people, verbally and via email / phone / text.Experience with horses and physical labor. Must be able to lift 50lbs multiple times per day.Experience driving tractors / ATVs preferredHardworking, self motivated, trustworthy, and takes initiative.Willingness to learn and try new tasks.Nuts and bolts:Full time: Monday-Friday every weekNo work on federal holidays and two weeks paid vacation timeSalary is dependent on experienceThe barn manager can board their horse at the family/employee rate of $300/month.Duties include:Feeding horsesMaintaining the property and landscapeKeeping the facilities neat, clean, and organizedRunning errands and making orders, such as hay and equipmentDealing with owners, prospective boarders and enforcing barn rulesBlanketing and turn outsSupervision of mucking staffChecking on horses and communicating any concerns to ownersIf interested, please contact [email protected] with a resumé (including references).
