LAKEVILLE, MN — The city of Lakeville was awarded $5.4 million from the federal American Rescue Plan that was signed into law last year.
In total, $350 billion to state, local, and Tribal governments across the nation from the law, which aimed to boost cities amid the COVID-19 health crisis. Of that money, 2.8 billion came to Minnesota.
Under the law, state and local governments can use the funding for:
Replace lost public sector revenueRespond to the pandemic-related public health and economic impactsProvide extra pay for essential workersInvest in water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure Lakeville plans to use some of its money to buy a new fire truck, the Star Tribune reported.

The city of Lakeville did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment.
