BEVERLY HILLS, CA — The Beverly Hills Police Department on Wednesday arrested a person in connection with an attempted armed robbery in Beverly Hills on Feb. 25. Kavian Sims-Petty was arrested and charged with attempted robbery and assault with a firearm, police said in a news release. There were no injuries immediately reported after the incident, authorities said. Sims-Petty was also charged with homicide in an unrelated incident in Los Angeles, police said. Sims-Petty's was in police custody Thursday, according to Lt. Giovanni Trejo, public information officer for BHPD. Authorities are seeking a second person in connection with the assault, police said in a news release. Police responded to a struggle in the 200 block of South Beverly Drive at 3:09 p.m. on Feb. 25. Two men, one armed with a handgun, approached a victim who was near or in a car, police said. Police initially thought the incident was an attempted carjacking but later determined it to be an attempted robbery, according to police. Both suspects fled the scene, one on foot and one in a vehicle, police said. One of the suspects discarded a loaded handgun in a metal trash bin near the incident, police said in a news release. Twitter videos of the incident showed two people appearing to pull the unidentified victim out of his black Lamborghini while onlookers filmed and honked their horns. The two people were seen running away from the car.
