Description
Matcha is an almost 4-year-old, 90lb Great Pyrenees / Bluetick Coonhound / American Staffordshire Terrier mix. She will need to go to a dog-savvy home, and will need to go with her extra large dog crate (it's up to you on whether you will keep it in the long run, but it is her private den and she will probably want to spend some time alone in it until she has adjusted). We are asking for a small rehoming fee of $75 to ensure that she goes to a good home.
She is a funny, playful dog with a deceptively sad face. She is housetrained, crate trained, and knows lots of tricks. She lives with a cat and plays well with the neighbor's dog, so other pets might be okay with slow introductions - she is easily overstimulated by new things, so it's best to let her go at her own pace and to give her lots and lots of treats to help her come around. Once she's used to her surroundings, she is a mellow and low-maintenance companion who likes to lie at your feet to be petted while you watch TV.
She doesn't look much like a Pyr, but she acts like one, so a person who's familiar with guarding breeds would be a good fit, but it's not necessary. Like many guarding breeds, she is possessive of her food and will need to be fed in a quiet place away from other pets. She gets a little snippy with other dogs about toys, but can be taught to share over time - she even lies down to take turns gently catching a dangly toy with our cat, and she watches with interest but doesn't interrupt when the cat plays with her own toys.
If you're looking for a walking buddy or someone to play fetch with, Matcha's your girl! She's also an excellent candidate for nose work and would probably be good at agility training. Plus... she's so darn cute!
