Madison Health Department Reports New Coronavirus Cases

MADISON, NJ—The Madison Health Department announced on Tuesday seven new confirmed cases of coronavirus and two new probable cases in the borough. These numbers include one confirmed case at Central Avenue School and one probable case at the Madison Junior School. "It was determined that, given the dates of attendance," said a statement issued by the borough, "neither case presented an exposure risk in school or at school-related activities." The borough said contact tracing was underway and the Madison Health Department will provide information to anyone who may need to isolate or quarantine. The cases bring Madison's total to 17 new confirmed and probable cases for the month of September. Madison reported the initial case, in Central Avenue School, last weekend. The district is currently nearing Phase 2 of its reopening plan. The announcement added that the borough is staying the course for now. "There is no evidence that our community—at this time—needs to adjust our current recommended cautions or procedures," the statement said.
