I bought this pretty little girl from Petland in February. I started working full time and thought maybe she and my older cockatiel might keep each other company during my work hours. Unfortunately, my little guy hates her. She loves him, but he would probably fly through a ring of fire to get away from her. This isn't working out very well for either of them. Petland didn't have a hatch date for her, but she is less than 6 months (she still has her first feathers). I think she might be starting to molt though. They cut her wings so short that she can't fly much, but after the first molt she should be able to get around pretty well. It is clear that she was fully flighted at one point. She has a breeder band around her leg (which we refer to as her "fit bit") and has an absolutely enormous appetite. I give them vegetables everyday, beans, eggs, pasta, etc and she eats it all. I give them a little bit of seed and pellet at night, and she eats some, but honestly she prefers the veggies. She can be very chatty, but in a charming way, not a screeching ear-piercing way. So far she is a pretty good mimic and has mastered the whistles he makes and the ones I do. I bought her a cage and it will go with her, plus her toys, some veg mix and some seed. $400.
