WOONSOCKET, RI — The bond between those on the front line in the battle against the new coronavirus has been cemented in touching fashion with salutes and tributes all across the country during the health emergency. Thursday morning, one of those emotional scenes took place in Woonsocket as police, fire and emergency medical services personnel lined the streets in honor of health care workers at Landmark Medical Center. The salute was complete with sirens blaring and lights flashing for those both coming off overnight shifts, and those heading to care for those putting their own health at risk while helping patients struggle against the pandemic disease for the rest of the day. "A beautiful and heart warming display of thanks to all of the employees at Landmark Medical Center," Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt posted on social media on Thursday. "This morning Woonsocket's Public Safety employees along with surrounding communities including Blackstone, Cumberland, Lincoln and North Smithfield showed their commitment and gratitude to LMC during this trying time."
