Drummer Looking for Heavy Groove Musicians for Jam Fun or Band

Galveston TX

Description

49 y/o drummer relocating to the Galveston area over the span of the next month or so. I'm interested in anything withn a heavy groove, but that groove can have a touch of funk, big band swing, or just anything that makes people move. My biggest influence are Bill Ward of Black Sabbath and NickoMacBrain of Iron Maiden, but I enjoy King's X, Clutch, Mothership, Candlemass, and others, as well non-Doom/Stoner, like power metal, strauight forward rock, and even unusual genre like world music and bluegrass. I'm not ooposed to covers, but not on the tribute level, where it is an exact copy of the record. Covers should be a way a new band sells their sound to audiences as they add originals, in my opinion. I do want to work up originals as well. Equipment-wise, my current set up, which can be adjusted, is 9-piece kit (with an optional second kick which I use as back up right now). Rack Toms: 10, 12, 13, 14, 16; Floor Toms: 18 and 20; Kick 28x14; Snare 14 steel. Cymbals are used and entry level, but I have 3 20" ride crashes, 2 splashes, 2 large chinas, and hi-hats, plus a few extra auxiliary things. This kit is refurbished by me from a myriad of other drums and brands. For instance the 18 and 20 floor toms and the kicks are repurposed marching drums. I did the paint. The rack is most EMT pipe from Home Depot as it is cheaper than name brand pipe. My sound is big, boomy, and open, allowing for effortless volume and a great range of dynamics, where my drums sound the same being barely touched as they do being pounded. As I said I do have the ability for two kicks/double bass drumming, but I frankly can do 95% of what I need with one foot, so my second kick is a spare, as heads for my sizes can be hard to get in a timely manner. Anyway, I will attach photos of the kit and perhaps a video of the sound, if it works. Note: I have tried t contact at least one band here, but the email kept bouncing. To contact me, search Facebook or Twitter for "CulverDrums." Extra note: As I am transitioning, I do not have a vehicle working that can haul the drums around yet (in the shop here in Canton, TX), but I will be staying at a place where I will have garage and other space for musical gear and rehearsals if someone doesn't mind traveling a bit. Also I will be looking for work, so things may need to be worked around as I go. Just want to be open with that.
