Come join our team at Bend Parks and Recreation District. Fleet Technicians are responsible for performing a full range of skilled mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment including outdoor power equipment. What we are looking for: FLEET TECHNICIAN 1 (starting pay rate: $19.72 - $22.48) Education, Experience, and Training: 1. High school diploma or equivalent; AND 2. One (1) year of experience in automotive or equipment mechanics field; OR 3. Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training. License and Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon Driver’s license FLEET TECHNICIAN 2 (starting pay rate: $21.40 - $24.39) Education, Experience, and Training: 1. Associate's Degree or two (2) years of college coursework; specialized training in an accredited automotive and/or heavy equipment systems repair program preferred; AND 2. Three (3) years as an automotive, heavy equipment, or outdoor power equipment mechanic with welding and metal fabrication and electronic diagnosis experience; OR 3. Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training. *License and Certifications: *Possession of or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire a valid Oregon Driver’s license *Possession of a valid OPE Certification, preferred *Possession of a valid ASE Certification, preferred What you'll need for success: Strong Knowledge of: *Methods and techniques of mechanical parts, supplies and related tools; *Operations and maintenance of a wide variety of hand tools, power and shop tools and equipment *Effective safety practices and procedures; *Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and safety regulations. Skill and Ability to: *Effectively operate a variety of diesel and gasoline powered vehicles and equipment; *Effectively operate a wide variety of hand, power and shop tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner; *Demonstrate use of computers and software programs; *Exercise initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities; and *Establish and maintain effective, cooperative and respectful working relationships with all contacts.
