WOONSOCKET, RI—The Rhode Island Foundation COVID-19 Response Fund recently provided another round of grants to nonprofit organizations across the state, including several that focus on helping residents in Woonsocket, according to The Valley Breeze. The Community Care Alliance in Woonsocket, which expects to serve approximately 2,000 individuals and 1,000 households, will use the funding to provide grocery store gift cards, bus passes, and assistance for other basic needs. The Blackstone Valley Community Action Program will use the grant to help residents in Woonsocket, Pawtucket, Central Falls, Lincoln and Cumberland with rental assistance and food. The Elisha Project, a collaborative effort to supply food to Woonsocket residents through local churches and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island, will use the funds to distribute perishable food on a daily basis. The Rhode Island Foundation's COVID-19 Response Fund was launched in early March and has received approximately $7 million from nearly 900 donors, according to the organization's website. The fund provides for nonprofit organizations throughout the state who are working to meet the basic needs of residents.
